Vanessa Perry serves as the Commissioner’s key advisor on legal and legislative issues impacting OGS. As the General Counsel, she manages the agency’s internal legal function and ensures that the agency conducts its business in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies, and supports the reduction and resolution of any compliance or risk concerns to mitigate agency exposure. Critically, in this role, Vanessa contributes to the development of the agency’s strategic plans, operating policies, and procedures while representing the agency’s values and modeling collaborative leadership.
Vanessa has been in state service for over 16 years developing her expertise across several state entities including the Office of the State Comptroller, the New York State Office of Information Technology Services, and New York State Division of the Budget.
Vanessa earned her bachelors of science in management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and her juris doctor from Albany Law School.
