If you are looking to come to where the action is -  a career in utilities management at OGS is a great place to be.

OGS manages and maintains 20 million square feet of state-owned office, warehouse, and other required space on behalf of Executive Department agencies throughout New York State. That means there is a lot of work related to heating, cooling, electricity, and plumbing.

In the Capital Region:

• Manage an 80-megawatt power grid - that's enough electricity to run 65,000 average-sized homes
• Oversee 15.5 million square feet of HVAC at the Empire State Plaza & Harriman Campus
• Operate & maintain 1500 HVAC Fan Systems in 300 machine rooms
• Keep the lights, heating, and cooling on for 18,000 NYS employees so that they can help New Yorkers
• Help New York reach energy policy goals 

Statewide:

While most of our plant operations positions are in the Albany area, OGS also needs utilities workers at our buildings in Harlem, Brooklyn, Hauppauge, Binghamton, Watertown, Hornell, Syracuse, Utica, Poughkeepsie, Oneonta, and Hawthorne.

No degree? No Problem.

No college degree is required if you have at least one year of commercial or residential HVAC experience. You can also apply with certain qualified military experience, successful completion of a BOCES  or technical school program, completion of a recognized apprentice program, or an associate's degree.
