Retro Fitness to Open Gym at Empire State Plaza
Early Membership Registration Now Available

Office of General Services (OGS) Commissioner RoAnn Destito today announced that national fitness chain Retro Fitness will open a gym in the Empire State Plaza concourse in mid-April.

Starting today, representatives from Retro Fitness will be on the concourse from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day providing information about the gym and selling memberships, including discounted introductory memberships for state employees that will be available during the weeks leading up to the gym’s opening.

“Over the past few years, new life has been breathed into the Empire State Plaza’s concourse with the introduction of vendors that provide a variety of services and eating options that nicely complement the businesses that have been serving customers here for years,” Commissioner Destito said. “Retro Fitness will be a welcome addition to the Plaza, and we look forward to its grand opening this spring.”

“I am very excited to team up with the Office of General Services and open a Retro Fitness on the Empire State Plaza concourse,” said Retro Fitness gym owner Trey Jasenski. “This will give me the opportunity to share my passion for fitness with everyone down there. Our staff will help you get to any fitness goal you have and be there every step of the way. We look forward to being a part of each member’s journey to achieving their fitness goal and changing their life.”

The gym will be in the southwest concourse between the Au Bon Pain main café and the entrance to Agency Building 1. It’s operating hours — 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays — will allow people to schedule a workout before going to their jobs or at the end of the day before leaving for home. Once fully up and running, Retro Fitness also plans to open on Saturdays.

The Empire State Plaza Retro Fitness will feature:

  • Cardio and strength-training machines, as well as free weights, including dumbbells up to 120 pounds.
  • Group classes.
  • Personal and small-group training.
  • Locker rooms with showers and bathrooms.
  • A pro shop selling clothing, protein bars, and supplements.
  • A Retro Blends smoothie bar.
  • Tanning.
