Minimum Requirements
Products MUST have the following sustainability attribute:
- At least one of the following certifications:
- EPEAT Silver or higher
- TCO Certified
- Have automatic duplexing capability (excluding scanners)
Additional Desirable Attributes
Products are ENCOURAGED to have one or more of the following sustainability attributes:
- EPEAT Gold and/or
- EPEAT Climate+
- Made by a Certified B Corp

Many products meeting this GreenNY Specification align with the following NYS Sustainability Policies:

Sample Contract Language
To support compliance with NYS policies and GreenNY procurement requirements, contract managers are encouraged to incorporate the GreenNY Sample Contract Language into bid solicitations and contracts. The GreenNY sample contract language covers the following topics:

Product-Specific Sample Contract Language
In addition to the GreenNY Sample Contract Language, contract managers are encouraged to include the following language in bid solicitations and vendor contracts involving Imaging Equipment:
Pursuant to the Manufacturer collection; recycling surcharge section of NYS Electronic Equipment for Recycling and Reuse Act (ECL § 27-2603), manufacturers of electronic equipment must accept electronic waste for which it is the manufacturer for collection, handling, and recycling or reuse. At the request of the purchaser, the vendor must provide verification of compliance with ECL § 27-2603.
Verification documentation may cover multiple products that are distributed, sold, or offered for sale by an individual vendor. The following types of verification documentation will be accepted:
- Third-party certification
- Product test results
- Compliance certification or affidavit signed by the manufacturer
- Other acceptable documentation as approved by the purchaser

Definitions
- Copier: A product whose sole function is to produce paper duplicates from paper originals. This definition is intended to cover products that are marketed as copiers and upgradable digital copiers (UDCs).
- Duplex printing: The practice of printing on both sides of a piece of paper.
- Multifunction device (MFD): A physically integrated device or a combination of functionally integrated components, that performs two or more of the core functions of copying, printing, scanning, or faxing. This definition is intended to cover products that are marketed as MFDs or multifunction printers (MFPs).
- Printer: A printer is a product that serves as a hard copy output device and can receive information from single-users or networked computers, or other input devices (e.g., digital cameras). This definition is intended to cover products that are marketed as printers, including printers that can be upgraded into MFDs in the field.
- Scanner: A scanner is a product that functions as an electro-optical device for converting information into electronic images that can be stored, edited, converted, or transmitted, primarily in a personal computing environment.
