14.4. How long must these records be retained? (Last Updated: 7/19/2023)
The law does not specify a timeframe for retaining the records, however, these records should be treated as contract files and retained in accordance with the requirements of the Arts and Cultural Affairs Law as set forth in the General Retention and Disposition Schedule for New York State Government Records or other applicable law. Generally speaking, such contract files should be retained for a period of six years after contract expiration or denial, completion of a procurement, or final payment whichever occurs later.
