|Restricting the Use of Bottled Water at State Facilities And Promoting Executive Agency Sustainability|
Executive Order No. 18 seeks to improve the environment and save taxpayer dollars by eliminating New York State's purchase and use of bottle water in state agency facilities and promoting the use of tap water as a preferred alternative.
The order will phase out the expenditure of state funds for the purchase of single serving bottles and larger, cooler-sized bottles for water consumed at state agency facilities. All executive agencies are required to develop and implement compliance plans and will report annually on their progress in accomplishing the Governor's objectives under the order.
The Office of General Services (OGS) is responsible for coordinating and assisting agency activities relating to EO 18. Assisting OGS in this role are the Department of Health (DOH) and the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).
The primary purpose of this website is to provide state agencies affected by the order - and in particular the agencies' EO 18 designated contacts - with helpful information and tools to support their compliance efforts.
