Each year, the New York State Office of General Services receives hundreds of offers for tree donations and inspects many with potential before choosing the perfect New York State tree. The tree will be decorated with over 2,000 energy-efficient light emitting diodes (LEDs) scheduled to be illuminated at this heartwarming family event. Activities include holiday music, a reindeer meet and greet, arts and crafts, a holiday marketplace, an ice skating clinic with the Hudson Mohawk Figure Skating Club presented by BlueShield of Northeastern New York, visits with Santa and a fantastic fireworks display. The Empire State Plaza also hosts the 7th annual New York State Museum Chocolate Expo and the 2012 Great Train Extravaganza on the same day.
